Our commitment to you
Calm, practical guidance you can trust
How we work, how we look after your data, and our Friends Against Scams registration. If anything here is unclear, ask us and we will explain.
How we work
Four things we hold ourselves to
Guidance that fits you
Individuals, families, charities, small businesses, schools and care providers each get advice that refers to the services, rules and help that apply to them.
Calm, not alarming
We explain risks honestly, without pressure or scare tactics. The aim is to inform you, not to frighten you.
Plain English, always
Every recommendation says what to do and why it matters, without technical jargon.
Most important first
We point you to the one or two things that make the biggest difference, so you feel in control rather than overwhelmed.
Where your data lives
Our servers and database are on Microsoft Azure in the UK (London), with encrypted nightly backups kept in London. Everything is encrypted while it travels and while it is stored. Passwords are never stored as you typed them, only as a secure scrambled version.
Your safety check answers
Answers are scored on our servers. If you don't create an account, we keep only an anonymous summary that can't be linked back to you. If you do, your results are saved to your account so you can track your progress.
AI features
Coach Nell, Scam Check and link checking use Microsoft's Azure OpenAI service in our own account in the UK. We don't keep a copy of what you send or the answer, and it is never used to train AI models. Please don't paste bank details or passwords.
Keeping and deleting
Your account data is kept while your account is open. You can delete your account at any time from your settings: it is removed 48 hours later (you can cancel in that time), and backup copies are gone within 30 days.
We never sell or share your answers or personal data for marketing. More on AI: how Scam Check handles what you paste.
